Alltägliches + Ausgedachtes

Wir leben in einer Welt der Geräusche: allgegenwärtiger Straßenlärm, schlafraubendes Vogelgezwitscher am frühen Morgen, dröhnende Kirchenglocken am Sonntag, nervenzerfetzender Laubbläserterror nicht nur im Herbst, Mobilgeschwätz in der Bahn und auch sonst überall. Was wir nicht mehr kennen, ist Stille.

Es beginnt bereits am frühen Morgen. Was die Singvögel nicht geschafft haben, vollendet der Wecker; missmutig schleppen wir uns ins Bad, und was machen wir als erstes: das Radio einschalten, wobei völlig egal ist, was läuft, Hauptsache es läuft, erzeugt Geräusch, alles ist besser als Stille, die wir nicht mehr ertragen.

Nach dem Bad den Fernseher einschalten, Frühstücksfernsehen, Nachrichten, Werbung, irgendwas, Hauptsache Geräusch und bunte Bilder.

Danach iPod-Kopfhörer reinstecken und raus in die laute Welt, mit Geräusch gegen Geräusch, besser selbstgewählte Musik hören als das unerträgliche Gelaber fremder Menschen morgens in der Bahn.

Die Beschallung setzt sich im Büro fort, wo – neben dem niemals versiegenden E-Mail-Eingang – Kollegen und das Telefon acht Stunden lang unsere Aufmerksamkeit beanspruchen, und nach Feierabend macht der Partner seine berechtigten Kommunikationsbedürfnisse geltend.

Noch weniger als fehlende akustische Außenreize ertragen wir geistige Stille; kaum ereilt uns ein unfreiwilliger Augenblick der Muße, im Bus oder in der Supermarktschlange beispielsweise, kramen wir das Smartphone aus der Tasche und schauen nach, was es neues gibt, auf Facebook, Twitter und im E-Mail-Eingang, irgendwas ist immer, und die Anzeige „Kein Netz“ treibt uns fast in den Wahnsinn.

Wahnsinn – das Stichwort. Sind wir wahnsinnig, oder jedenfalls auf dem besten Weg dorthin? Warum fällt es uns so schwer, einfach mal untätig irgendwo zu sitzen, ohne akustische oder virtuelle Berieselung, einfach den Gedanken ihren Lauf zu lassen? Wir müssen Stille und Untätigkeit von Grund auf neu erlernen, in kleinen Schritten, und darum lade ich Sie, liebe Leser, nun zu einer kurzen, gemeinsamen Übung ein. Bitte nehmen Sie eine bequeme Sitz- oder Liegehaltung ein, schalten Sie alle geräuscherzeugenden Geräte aus und machen Sie – nichts.
